In CIS Shenyang we take very seriously the education or our students doing our best in any situation to offer a quality teaching experience for our students. Though the quarantine imposed to combat the novel coronavirus continues to be applied at full force, we have taken measures to make sure that our students don’t miss a beat on their learning. All our teachers have fully committed their selves to continue offering high quality education and encouraging our students to continue producing work to the best of their ability by using numerous online tools.Dr. Francisco de la Serna Sabate ,MYP Coordinator and since teacher of our school gave a brief comment on the current situation of online teaching.
Online tools such as Managebac, Brainpop, Khan Academy materials, InThinking, etc. are being used together with traditional resources to impart an IB education. “Our teachers have been trained and encouraged to explore and use all of these resources and more in order to offer a wide range of activities and learning experiences in these challenging times. As they continue observing the quarantine, our teachers are far from idle. They are continuously exploring new websites and resources in order to meet their ends. “Dr. Francisco said. In addition to using various network resources, teachers also use their own videos to answer questions and solve problems for students, such as issues of using a new website or having specific questions with the learning content.Teachers record instructional videos and upload them to different websites such as Youku, YouTube and Managebac. In these videos teachers explain concepts their selves questions asked by the students, issues with the subject itself, or guides on how to use new websites. Moreover, we offer face time video calls with the students that wish to have tutoring hours.
During this trying times, our team also put a lot of effort into communication. We create and maintain a solid connection with our students through email and WeChat.In addition, building a sense of trust, familiarity, and achievement for students is also a very important part of online teaching.
Through the continuous efforts of our teaching staff, learning has progressed at a steady, satisfactory pace within the CISS community of students. At the moment, all of our students and their parents are communicating with the school in one way or another, and our students continue to produce quality work with the help of their teachers.
