The Colorful CISS Summer ECA Came to A Successful Conclusion

July 31st, Canadian International School of Shenyang (CISS) held International Club Summer English ECA Graduation Ceremony. From June 22 to July 31st, in more than a month's time, the rich and colorful ECA made each student practiced and promoted on a full range of fronts, what’s more, it engraved joy and harvest into students’ holiday life.

CISS ECA started with English and science. The teachers have carefully designed various teaching contents. In science classes, students learned about aerodynamics from colorful paper aircrafts, the omnipresence of science from the magical non-Newtonian fluid, and mechanics and trigonometry from building a small bridge. In English classes, word game made learning English words boring no more. In addition, the students also went to Bird Island to explore the life of birds, did yoga to relax themselves in the fresh mountain air, planted basil, pepper, tomato seeds in the experimental field of the school, felt the beauty of life with body and mind, and discovered the beauty and wonder of mother nature.

The following Chinese language literature ECA were also wonderful. Chinese class on the tip of the tongue commenced with delicious food, the teachers enhanced students' awareness of food and crops based on food education courses, led the students to understand the traditional Chinese festivals, together learned to make and taste traditional Chinese food, learned and approached the mysterious Oriental culture in the process of making food, comprehensively understood Chinese culture, improved the enthusiasm for Chinese learning, students’ patience, carefulness and cooperation was trained in the process of food making. Dumplings for Chinese New Year, glutinous rice balls for the Lantern Festival, zongzi for the Dragon Boat Festival, green rice balls for the Cold Food Festival, green bean cakes and Qiqiaoguo for the summer, students enjoyed the splendor and charm of Chinese culture while tasting the delicious food made by themselves. Writing class was also full of fun, the teachers made the students discard writing paper-something has been regarded as a nightmare, led everyone to play games, writing material was accumulated during the games, felt, observed, recorded and stimulated everyone's active desire to explore, and then the students picked up the pen, wrote down their own aspirations, described the rich inner world......

On the graduation ceremony, vice principal, Dr. Francisco de la Serna Sabate, and the Chinese and International Chinese teachers presented each student with graduation certificate. Looking back on the bit by bit of the past 40 days, every student was very happy to see his learning achievements, and even more grateful to the hard work of the teachers.

Madam Duan Yun A, executive director of CISS, delivered a speech on behalf of Dr. Francis Pang, Chairman of CISS. She said, through one month's study, the students have greatly improved your English ability, scientific literacy and Chinese application. Congratulations to the students on your new progress! It is believed that these 40 days must have left countless beautiful memories in the students’ hearts. Learning through playing, thus study becomes fun, which is the purpose of our summer ECA. Seeing that all the students are now fully interested in learning, happier and more confident, is the most gratifying thing for all our teachers. The educational philosophy of CISS is to provide world-class education, comprehensively cultivate students’ abilities in a multi-cultural environment full of care, and committed to enabling all students to give full play to their unique potential and become lifelong learners with environmental awareness and global awareness. In the future development, we will continue implementing this philosophy. In the upcoming new school year, we will have many major initiatives, not only continue to provide the best international education in Liaoning province, but also will provide more language education, carry out more rich and colorful ECA, and will apply for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, the school will pay more attention to each student's individual needs, make each student possess greater improvement and a better future. All in all, in the 20/21 school year, there will be many wonderful things waiting for us, let's look forward to it together!
