On September 21, every year since 2001, the world celebrates the International Day of Peace, also known as World Peace Day. This day is sanctioned by the United Nations as a day devoted to peace, non-violence and ceasefire, wherever there may be ongoing hostilities. It is also a day to recognize and honour the efforts of those who have worked hard to end conflict and promote peace.

In some countries, people have another Peace Day. November 11 is Armistice Day of the First World War. In countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada, it is also Remembrance Day and Peace Day. People hold various activities to honor the dead and remind people to stay away from war and cherish peace.

CISS Peace Day commemorative activity began on November 9, with students making pinwheels. Each student constructed a pinwheel from a piece of paper or light cardboard, a drywall screw and a plastic straw. When they had completed their pinwheel, they began to decorate them with peace signs——pictures of doves of peace, olive branches or short messages about peace. Throughout the coming week, the students will also complete other activities. CISS will make these pinwheels and other works of students into a special exhibition to further strengthen students' faith in cherishing peace and maintaining peace.
