The school library is the facilitating service of educational establishments in which they meet, organize and use the necessary resources for learning, the acquisition of reading habits and training in the use of information from students at different levels. According to UNESCO, the school library provides information and ideas that are essential to function successfully in our contemporary society, based on information and knowledge. It provides students with lifelong learning skills and helps develop their imaginations, enabling them to conduct themselves in life as responsible citizens.
In sum, the school library plays a fundamental role within the school, as part of the educational process, providing its users with tools that will not only train them as readers, but also allow equal access to culture and influence their personal development and development in their social bonding.
The educational system must contribute to create competent readers, promote reflective and critical attitudes towards the different means of transmission and dissemination of culture and an awakening of interest in reading.
Our students visit our library at least once a week in order to continue reinforcing the reading program that each teacher develops in class. In this space, students carry out individual reading, pair reading, group reading, reading aloud and many other activities related to the reading process, always under the close supervision of the teachers and with the invaluable help of Ms. Jessica, our librarian, who knows each and every one of the books out there. In addition, according to her functions, she adapts to our needs and always tries to help to facilitate our work and that of the students.
