Under the warm spring sun, distinguished guests are welcomed. On March 18, CISS had the honor of hosting special visitors. Ms. Marita Cheng, a robotics expert from Australia, and Ms. Catia Rizio, consul from the Australian Consulate in Shenyang, visited CISS and interacted with the students.

Ms. Marita Cheng is the founder and executive director of Robogals Global, and the founder and CEO of Aubot. In 2012, she was awarded the Young Australian of the Year.

In 2019, she became the youngest recipient of the Order of Australia and was listed by Forbes magazine as one of the World’s Top 50 Women in Tech in 2018. She was also selected by Forbes as 30 Under 30 in 2016.

As a tech entrepreneur, she has a particular focus on people with disabilities. Aubot's Teleport, a telepresence robot produced by her company, is used for kids with cancer to attend school, people with disabilities to attend work and to monitor and socialize with elderly people. She also places a strong emphasis on encouraging and supporting women to learn about robotics. To date, Robogals Global has provided educational opportunities to 100,000 girls from 11 countries.

During her visit to the CISS science laboratory, Ms. Cheng checked the school's experimental equipment and learned about the students' science curriculum. She shared her knowledge and experience in robotics research and development, STEM, and her entrepreneurial journey with MYP and DP students, encouraging them with warm words to choose STEM majors in university.

The students also had the opportunity to ask her questions. Student Rena asked: "Who inspired you the most?" Student Arthur inquired: "What will the future of artificial intelligence and robotics look like?" ……

In the CISS auditorium, Ms. Cheng introduced the content of her new book and interacted warmly with PYP students. Her life story and entrepreneurial insights greatly encouraged the students.

Walking with the wise, you will stand out; in the company of the great, you can reach the peak. The visit of Ms. Marita Cheng has planted a seed of science in the hearts of the students.
